I'm a Dutch adventurer who somehow ended up on the coast of Costa Rica, always chasing the next experience that sits slightly outside the ordinary. When I spotted a mermaid flyer at a local coffee shop, I signed up mostly out of curiosity, along with a quiet hope that the water might help me work through something I'd been carrying since childhood. What it gave me in return was something I didn't see coming: healing, belonging, and a connection to the water that I now can't imagine living without.

I created Mermaid Maylys for every woman who feels even the slightest pull toward the element of water.
